Marcus Mays accused of beating 2-year old to death in August

A LaGrange man, charged with murder in the August death of a child he was watching, has pleaded Not Guilty to all charges.

Marcus Mays entered that Not Guilty plea Thursday at his arraignment in Lewis County Circuit Court. He faces counts of 2nd degree murder, child abuse, child endangerment and drug possession. He'll be in court next January 10th for a trial setting. Mays was first charged after an incident in mid-August at his trailer where he was watching 2-year-old Taylen Allen. He was first arrested in August after the child was taken to Blessing Hospital with severe injuries. She died five days later at Children's Hospital in St. Louis, after allegedly being hit in the head numerous times by Mays. A preliminary autopsy report blames the child's death on Mays.

He's in the Lewis County Jail on $1 million cash-only bond.
