Accused in March shooting at Quincy apartment complex

A Quincy man, indicted on charges in connection with a mid-March shooting at a Quincy apartment complex, has pleaded Not Guilty.

Louis Jenkins entered that plea Wednesday at his arraignment in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday on Class X counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery, and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Jenkins has been charged in the early-morning shooting at an apartment in the Country Club Heights complex near 31st and State. One man was shot several times, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A second defendant, Christopher Beaver, will be arraigned on similar charges next week.

Jenkins is in the Adams County Jail on $1 million bond, and will go on trial June 11th.
