IDES says both city and county's rate is higher than last March
The March unemployment rate for Quincy rose slightly, and fell slightly in Adams County, according to figures released Thursday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Those figures show that last month, the unemployment rate in Quincy rose by a tenth of a per cent, to 4.4%. It fell by a tenth in Adams County to 4.3%. Compared to last March, those figures are nearly a half per cent higher. The March rate for the Quincy - Hannibal job market remained unchanged at 4.2%. That's four tenths of a per cent higher than last March. Brown, Hancock and McDonough Counties saw slight increases in March, while both Pike and Schuyler Counties saw their rates drop slightly. Both Pike and Hancock Counties still have unemployment rates above 6%. In Lee County, Iowa, the March rate stayed at 3.6%. That's 7 tenths of a per cent lower than last March.
Figures for Northeast Missouri should be available Friday.
