Ameren Transmission still needs approval from three counties, MO PSC

An Illinois company has received permission from two Northeast Missouri counties for a revised route for a proposed high-voltage power line.

Representatives from Ameren Transmission were at Monday morning's meetings of both the Marion and Lewis County Commissions, where they got Assent Orders to build the Mark Twain Transmission Project. That's a high-voltage power line that would run from near Palmyra to the Iowa line. 90% of the line would piggy-back on existing right of ways granted to Northeast Power and Ameren Missouri. Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode says that the poles carrying the power lines will be updated.

Bode says that Ameren Transmission plans to get permission from three other counties along the route over the next few weeks, including Knox, Adair and Schuyler Counties. Knox County Commissioners are due to meet Friday. Ameren Transmission also needs permission from the Missouri Public Service Commission.
