Sentenced Friday in Adams County

A Liberty man, convicted on a Class X count of Home Invasion, has been sent to prison.

John Martineau was in Adams County Circuit court Friday, where he was sentenced by Judge Amy Lannerd to 20 years in prison, on one count of Home Invasion with a Deadly Weapon. Martineau was convicted in September by an Adams County jury, after they found that he went into a Liberty home in April, and threatened a man in the home with a knife. The victim testified that Martineau had slid the knife across his face and neck and asked him quote, "Are you ready to die?" Under state law, Martineau will have to serve 85 per cent of his sentence.

His attempt to have the verdict thrown out was rejected in early October.
