Former Sheriff's Deputy is currently Chief of Police in Jacksonville, IL
The Republican nominee for Adams County Sheriff says he wants Jacksonville's top cop to be his chief Deputy if he wins this November.
Former Chief Deputy Jon McCoy announced Monday that he would name current Jacksonville Police Chief Tony Grootens as his Chief Deputy, if he wins the race for Sheriff. Before becoming Jacksonville's chief, Grootens was a former Adams County Sheriff's Deputy, and was also with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Grootens was in Quincy last week to help announce the arrest of two suspects in a string of ATM robberies over the summer.
McCoy is facing Democratic Sheriff Brian VonderHaar in the November 8th general election.
