McKenzie trial delayed to October

McKenzie trial delayed to October

7 years, 9 months ago by Scott Hardy

2nd delay granted to defense

The trial of a Quincy man accused of beating a man to death last December has again been delayed.

A trial for Derek McKenzie has been pushed back to October 11th, after a status hearing Tuesday morning in Adams County Circuit Court where his lawyers were granted another delay. It's the second delay in the trial, after his legal team asked for, and were granted, a two-month delay in the start of the trial in late June. McKenzie is charged with two counts of 1st Degree Murder, and is accused of beating Billy Graham to death with his fists, and a clamp, in Graham's apartment above Izzey's Bar and Grill on North 5th Street last December.

McKenzie is in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond.
