$7.25 million dollar project will re-pave bridge deck, other repairs

The Illinois Department of Transportation says that the Memorial Bridge at Quincy will be closed for the next eight months, starting April 1st.

IDOT says that the bridge is being closed for repairs, and that the Bayview Bridge will be converted to two-way traffic. In addition, there will be a 14 foot width restriction on the Bayview Bridge while the work's being done. A statement says that the $7.25 million project will resurface the bridge deck, replace bridge joints and re-paint the bridge. There will also be structural steel repairs, and crews will also replace and repair lighting. You can expect delays, and should allow extra time for trips on the Bayview Bridge.

IDOT also said that it's currently reviewing long-term plans for replacing the Quincy Memorial Bridge and will be seeking input at a public meeting later this year.
