Bowling Green man faces 1st, 2nd degree murder charges

A Bowling Green man, accused of shooting and killing his step-son last summer, has pleaded Not Guilty.

Michael Allen Black entered that plea Monday at his arraignment in Pike County, Missouri Circuit Court. He faces counts of 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the August 18th, 2017 shooting death of 31 year old Alexander Koch. According to authorities, the shooting happened while the two were talking outside their rural Bowling Green home. Earlier that night, Black and Koch had a physical altercation, and Black allegedly told arresting officers he was tired of being beaten by Koch, and admitting shooting him once in the abdomen. Koch died about an hour later at a Louisiana hospital.

Black’s free on $500,000 bond, and will be back in court June 25th.
