Monroe City Mayor is 2nd candidate in GOP Primary

Another Republican candidate has declared for Missouri's 5th District State House race.

Monroe City Mayor Neal Minor announced his bid Thursday, saying he wants to focus on cutting down the disparity between urban and rural areas when it comes to internet access. Minor says that because of his time as Monroe City mayor, he's especially qualified for this job, claiming that he has no problems reaching across county or party lines. Minor joins Palmyra Mayor Loren Graham as having declared for the seat.

Incumbent Republican Lindell Schumake can't run for re-election due to term limits, and is running for the 18th District State Senate seat.
