Crests now predicted Thursday night, Friday morning

The latest prediction from the National Weather Service still has the Mississippi River cresting above 25 feet at both Quincy and Hannibal.

That prediction, issued late Wednesday morning, has the river cresting at 25.2 feet at Quincy Thursday night. That could force Illinois 57 in Quincy to again close. At Hannibal, a predicted crest of 25.3 feet is expected early Friday morning. At Keokuk, the river will crest at 20 feet Thursday night. That will force Victory Park to close. At Canton, a crest of 21.1 feet's expected Thursday afternoon, and at LaGrange, a crest of 21.9 feet's also expected Thursday afternoon. Down river at Lock and Dam 22 at Saverton, a crest of 24.2 feet's expected early Friday morning. At Louisiana, a crest of 23.6 feet's expected early Friday morning. That's three tenths of a foot below the level that would force the Champ Clark Bridge to close.

On the Illinois River, a re-crest is now expected early next week. At Beardstown, a crest of 26.5 feet's expected early Tuesday morning. At LaGrange Lock and Dam, a crest of 31.5 feet's expected Monday night. At Meredosia, a crest of 26 feet's expected Monday afternoon, and at Valley City, a crest of 25 feet's expected Monday night.
