Missouri Crop Progress for Week Ending 4/7

Temperatures for the week were above average with below average precipitation statewide, though fields remained too wet for much fieldwork. Temperatures last week averaged 56.5 degrees, 3.2 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.78 inches statewide, 0.32 inches below normal. There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending April 14, 2019. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 66 percent adequate and 34 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent short, 76 percent adequate and 23 percent surplus. Corn planted progressed to 6 percent this week, 2 percentage point ahead of last year. Rice planted progressed to 15 percent, 1 percentage point behind the 5-year average. Winter wheat condition was rated at 2 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 49 percent fair, 31 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.
