Farmers made good progress harvesting wheat last week. Temperatures averaged 78.5 degrees, 5.0 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.96 inches statewide, 1.09 inches above normal. There were 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 14 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 16 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.

Corn condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.

Soybean planting was 92 percent complete, compared to 91 percent last year and 80 percent for the 5year average. Soybeans emerged progressed to 81 percent. Soybean condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.

Cotton squaring reached 14 percent, compared with 23 percent for the 5-year average. Cotton condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.

Rice emerged progressed to 96 percent. Rice condition was rated 5 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 43 percent good, and 25 percent excellent.

Sorghum planting was 90 percent complete.

Winter wheat harvest was 52 percent complete, compared with the 5-year average of 33 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 7 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated 4 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 63 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
