There were 4.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending September 29, 2019. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 18 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 17 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 8 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Corn dented progressed to 96 percent, while corn matured progressed to 72 percent, 23 percentage points behind last year. Corn harvested for grain progressed to 26 percent. Corn condition was rated at 5 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Cotton bolls opening progressed to 76 percent, 18 percentage points behind last year, while cotton harvested progressed to 6 percent. Cotton condition was rated at 7 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 52 percent fair, and 32 percent good. Rice harvested progressed to 65 percent this week, 8 percentage points ahead of last year. Rice condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 37 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Winter wheat planted progressed to 3 percent, 4 percentage points behind last year and the 5-year average. Winter wheat emerged progressed to 1 percent this week.
