Water over the roads due to Mississippi, Des Moines Rivers
The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed U.S. Route 61/Missouri Route 136 at Alexandria.
MoDOT announced the closure Sunday night, saying that both the Mississippi and Des Moines Rivers are at flood stage in this area. They add that water has covered the road in both Alexandria, MO and Keokuk, IA. Law enforcement officials are warning drivers to heed the road closure signs, and to not drive on the closed sections of either highway. MoDOT says they do not know yet when the road will reopen.
