39 miles of re-paving US 24, new bridge deck planned

Drivers in Monroe County will see road and bridge work next year on US 24 between Monroe City and the Randolph County line.

That's according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. They say that the bridge over Middle Fork of the Salt River near Paris will get a new deck. MoDOT also says that the 39-mile stretch of highway will be resurfaced. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded those projects last week to Magruder Construction, in a $7.2 million bid. A statement says that the bridge is included in Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s “Focus on Bridges” program passed by the Missouri General Assembly during its 2019 session. The program allocated $50 million in state general revenue to fund 45 high priority bridge projects throughout the state.

The contractor can get started on the project after March 1st, 2020. MoDOT says that a specific date for construction to begin will be determined after a pre-construction conference in late winter.
