MO Supreme Court throws out appeal over 2014 bid for new stadium

The Monroe City School District has won a victory in Missouri's highest court.

The Missouri State Supreme Court ruled Monday in favor of the Monroe City School District in a case filed against it by Byrne and Jones Construction. The company sued the district, claiming its' bidding process was unfair, after it lost a bid in 2014 to design and build a new athletic stadium at Monroe City High School. The company lost the bid to a second company, ATG, which had helped the district plan the new stadium. Bryne and Jones said that the district had colluded with ATG and that, from the beginning, the district’s bidding procedures favored ATG.

A Monroe County Circuit Court agreed with the district's request to dismiss the suit in May 2014. Byrne & Jones then appealed to the Supreme Court.
