Murder case involving owner of former Quincy restaurant delayed

3 years, 6 months ago by Scott Hardy

Next hearing for William "Chris" Niemet set for December 16

A Missouri man and owner of a now-closed Quincy restaurant, charged in the shooting death of a classmate almost 30 years ago, has had his case delayed three months.

William "Chris" Niemet of Fulton was in Cole County Circuit Court Wednesday for a trial setting. Records show that hearing was delayed to December 16th. Niemet's pleaded Not Guilty to one count of first-degree murder in the death of Greg Jones, whose his body was found in June 1991 near Russellville. Jones, who was 14, was reported missing on April 24, 1991. Niemet, who owns the Quincy Golden Corral, was his 15-year-old classmate. A probable cause statement filed when Niemet was charged does not indicate a motive.

Niemet's free on $1 million cash-only bond.
