Dr. Alan Shackelford discusses use of medical cannabis

MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS FROM ADAMS AND HANCOCK COUNTIES GATHERED LAST EVENING AT TOWN AND COUNTRY INN IN QUINCY TO LISTEN TO DR. ALAN SHACKELFORD, MD DISCUSS THE PROCESS, QUALIFYING CONDITIONS, AND RESULTS OF MEDICAL CANNABIS. HE IS THE PRINCIPLE OF AMARIMED OF COLORADO, A MEDICAL PRACTICE DEVOTED TO THE STUDY OF CANNABINOID  MEDICINE.   DR. SHACKELFORD SHARED SEVERAL OF HIS PATIENTS’ SUCCESS STORIES, AND HIS PERSONAL ASSESSMENT OF THE RISKS AND POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF USING CANNABIS FOR EACH PATIENT.

“MANY DOCTORS SEE CANNABIS AS AN ALTERNATIVE OPTION, NOT A PRIMARY TREATMENT PLAN.  IT’S NOT A STIGMA ANYMORE.   NOT FOR DOCTORS.    NOT FOR PATIENTS, “SHACKELFORD SHARED.

THIS WAS EVIDENT IN THE HIGH TURN OUT FOR THE EVENT.  THERE WERE PHYSICIANS REPRESENTING BLESSING HOSPITAL, QUINCY MEDICAL GROUP, SIU FAMILY PRACTICE, AND CARTHAGE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

CHRISTINE WILDRICK OF HERBAL REMEDIES DISPENSARY OF QUINCY WAS THRILLED WITH THE ATTENDANCE FOR THE EVENT.  “HAVING DR. SHACKELFORD, WHO IS KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AS A LEADER IN CANNABINOID MEDICINE, IS AN HONOR FOR OUR FACILITY.”

THE EVENT CLOSED WITH AN OPEN Q &A INCLUDING QUESTIONS ABOUT RECOMMENDED DOSAGE, PATIENT RECORDS, AND FOLLOW UP CARE.  IN ILLINOIS, A PATIENT WILL SEE THEIR DOCTOR AND THE PHYSICIAN WILL SIGN A CERTIFICATION FORM.  THIS FORM VERIFIES THE QUALIFYING CONDITION EXISTS, AND IS THE FIRST STEP IN THE ILLINOIS PROCESS.
