Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore says he expects to name a replacement for Virgil Goehl in two weeks' time. Moore said after Monday night's City Council meeting that he's narrowed down his choice to three candidates. He says that the Adams County Democratic Committee submitted their recommendations Monday to the Council. Moore says he plans to complete interviews by the middle of the week, and that a new Alderman may be named by the week of July 22nd. Moore says that in selecting a new alderman, it's a two-step process.

The City Council denied requests by On the Rail on South 4th Street in the District to have live music in their beer garden the weekends of July 20th and 27th. That's after residents of the Hotel Elkton and our fellow tenants in the Lincoln-Douglas Building repeatedly complained about the noise to police. As part of the city's ordinance about live music performances, the QPD conducts a canvass of nearby residents. Amendments to that ordinance, including limiting venues to one live performance per month, may be introduced in the next few weeks.
