Lawyers for Daniel Lozier, Brian Holzgrafe and QU told to keep negotiating

Both sides in a $10 million Federal civil suit, filed by a former Quincy University student and member of the men's tennis team against the school and its' former tennis coach, have failed to agree to a settlement.

Daniel Lozier, along with Brian Holzgrafe and lawyers for Quincy University were in U.S. District Court in Springfield Tuesday, for a mediation conference. It was an attempt by both sides to settle the case, which is still set to go to trial November 16th. Lozier filed the 12-count suit in April 2018 against QU and Holzgrafe, the former men's tennis coach. Lozier claims that after he was interviewed in April 2017 by the school's Title IX administrator about allegations that Holzgrafe was in an intimate relationship with a member of the QU Women's tennis team, details of the interview were leaked within a day. Lozier claims he was retaliated against after his testimony, saying he was kicked off the tennis team 2 days after the interview, and that other QU officials told him to complete the semester remotely, off campus. Both QU and Holzgrafe have denied the charges. Holzgrafe has also filed a counter-suit against Lozier in Federal court.

He's also sued Lozier's mother in Adams County Circuit Court.
