Likely plea deal cancels April trial on attempted murder charge

A Hannibal woman, accused of attempted 2nd degree murder, will now plead to a lesser charge in a settlement with prosecutors.

Court records show that on Monday, Judge David Mobley canceled a one-day trial on April 19th for Victoria Norell in Marion County Circuit Court. She's now expected to enter a plea on March 26th. Norell's facing charges of 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, Armed Criminal Action and Domestic Assault, and is accused of twice stabbing her boyfriend, 24 year old Zac Meyer in December 2016, after he returned to their group home in the 400 block of Washington. In a probable cause statement, Norell told police she was afraid she would be sent to a residential care facility, and that voices in her head told her to stab Meyer. Both are developmentally disabled.

Norell's in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 bond.
