Kirt Malone will retire June 30

Another area school superintendent has announced their retirement, at the end of the school year.

Palmyra School Superintendent Kirt Malone told the Board of Education Tuesday night he plans to retire June 30th. Malone has been Superintendent since July, 2017,and the former Palmyra Middle School Principal succeed Eric Churchwell in the job. The Board approved an agreement between the school district and L.J. Hart & Company. The company will help Palmyra re-finance some debt service bonds. Officials say the move will save the district about $600,000 in interest payments.

The Palmyra Board also learned that over the summer the district bought a new software and camera system and installed six cameras on each school bus. Transportation Director Brian Wosman told the Board that the program can be used to create more efficient bus routes and provide accurate pick up and drop off information for the District.
