Half of park area converted into wetlands

The Quincy Park District Board has voted to have much of Bob Bangert Park re-developed as a natural area, complete with wetlands.

The Board unanimously approved a proposal that will have the Park District work with the Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen’s Association on the project. They plan to restore prairie areas, develop savanna areas, plant trees and develop 13 acres of wetlands in the 26 acre Park, which is on the North Bottom Road near the Mississippi. Work on the project will start this fall, and be completed over the next three years.

The Board was also presented with the results of the Park District's community-wide survey.
