Blamed on vehicle running into pole; power back on by 8:30 AM

Hundreds of Hannibal residents and businesses were without electricity for several hours early Sunday.

The power outage began when a pickup truck hit a utility pole at about 1:45 AM on Mark Twain Avenue. Most of Hannibal North of Broadway, and from 7th Street East to the river lost electricity. That included the lights on the Mark Twain Memorial bridge. Police have not yet released details related to the crash or whether anyone was hurt.

Power to most of those affected was restored by 8:30 AM.
