4 months ago by Scott Hardy

Nicholas Havermale will serve 16.5 year sentence

A Payson man has pleaded Guilty to charges involving a then 15-year old Quincy girl, and is going to prison.

Nicholas Havermale was in Adams County Circuit Court Friday, where records show he pleaded Guilty to two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault against a family member under 18. As part of a settlement with prosecutors, a more serious Class X count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault was dropped. After the plea, Havermale was then sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison. Havermale admitted sexually assaulting the girl at a home on Quincy's southwest side on April 25th. Prosecutors said that Quincy police were sent to Blessing Hospital about the assault.

Patrol officers found and arrested Havermale later that night, while he was walking near 8th and R.J. Peters Drive.
