Cain Vincent, 19, and Ryan Chatman, 35, both in Pike County Jail

Pittsfield police say they've made two arrests on weapons charges within 12 hours this past weekend.

The first arrest happened around 5:25 PM Saturday, involving a Pittsfield man, already wanted by authorities, who now faces a weapon charge. He's identified as 19-year old Cain Vincent. Police Chief Kenneth Yelliott says that officers spotted Vincent in a vehicle parked on the 200 block of West Washington. A statement says that officers knew Vincent was wanted for failing to appear in court on a criminal violation. The officers arrested Vincent on the warrant, and say they found a loaded .40 caliber handgun in Vincent's waistline. He now faces one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and is in the Pike County Jail, awaiting a bond hearing.

The second arrest happened around 3 AM Sunday, involving a Louisiana, Missouri man accused of firing a handgun during a fight. Pittsfield police identify him as 35-year old Ryan Chatman, and say they were called around 1 AM Sunday to the 400 block of North Monroe Street, on a report of shots fired. A statement says that during the investigation, police learned there was also a fight that happened nearby. They also found three spent 9 millimeter shell casings. Officers arrested Chatman about two hours later on one count of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. He's in the Pike County Jail, awaiting a bond hearing. There was no indication if anyone was hurt either due to the shooting, or the fight.

Pittsfield police say that the Pike County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police helped investigate that incident.
