Power out for around 2 hours

Over 21 hundred Ameren Illinois customers were without power for several hours Tuesday afternoon in southern Adams and western Pike Counties.

Ameren says the power went off around 12:45 PM for over 12 hundred customers in Payson and Plainville, and another 937 customer in Barry, Hull and Kinderhook. In addition, some 40 customers in Quincy were also without power. The power was back on by around 2:30 PM.

Ameren says the outage in Quincy was caused by a downed power line, while a sub-station failure caused the outage in Payson.
