Roger Parker Jr. will be back in court October 21

A 16-year old, accused in the fatal shooting last month of a Quincy man, will have a preliminary hearing later this month.

Roger Parker, Jr was in Adams County Circuit Court Tuesday, where an October 21st preliminary hearing date was set. Parker, Jr. was back in court, a day after a public defender was appointed for him. He had previously tried to hire his own attorney. A prosecution motion calling for Parker to submit a sample of his DNA will be heard on the 21st. Judge Amy Lannerd also ruled that any future motions will be sealed, prior to her review. Parker's been charged as an adult with three counts of 1st Degree Murder in the death of 18-year old Darrell Kelley, Jr. of Quincy. Police say they were called just before 5 PM September 26th to the 600 block of Sycamore on the report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found Kelley lying in the street, with multiple gun-shot wounds. Kelley died later that night at Blessing Hospital.

Parker is in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center on $5 million bond.
