2 months, 1 week ago by Scott Hardy

Final report due by years' end

The Quincy City Council got a first look Monday night at information gathered for a proposed Strategic Plan for the next 20 years. Scott Hardy has more.

The Council heard a presentation from Matthew Wetli, Principal at Development Strategies, the St. Louis company hired to come up with the plan. The plan has four major goals, including growing Quincy's economy, creating an accessible and connected city, building up Quincy's downtown and riverfront and providing culture and activity for residents and visitors. Wetly says they have 67 strategies and over 120 ways to implement those goals, which need to be narrowed down.

When asked about ways to encourage growth in Quincy, Wetli says there's other ways to measure that besides population growth.

A Strategic Plan task force plans to meet Tuesday, and a final public meeting is planned for November. The full plan should be ready by the end of the year. The preliminary plan is below.
