Men face charges in alleged May kidnapping, sexual assault in Hannibal

Probable cause has been found against one of two Hannibal men, charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault in Hannibal in May.

That ruling against Demetrice Moffett was handed down Monday at a preliminary hearing in Marion County Associate Court. Moffett faces counts of Rape, Kidnapping and Armed Criminal Action, and will be arraigned August 20th. A second defendant, Kenny Lumpford, had his preliminary hearing on one count of 1st Degree Rape delayed two weeks to July 23rd. Court records show the delay was at the request of Lumpford's attorney. A third man, Travis Gerard, will go on trial in January on counts of receiving stolen property and Marijuana manufacturing. Lumpford's alleged to have known the female victim, and made a deal with Moffett to take him to her, in exchange for drugs and money. Gerard's alleged to have provided Moffett with a 45 caliber handgun used in the crimes, which allegedly took place in a Hannibal motel.

Moffett and Lumpford are in the Marion County Jail, while Gerard's free on bond.
