Could approve offer, or approve intent to strike

We'll know this evening whether the union representing over 800 Quincy Public School teachers and employees will accept a contract offer from the Board, or approve an intent to strike.

Union officials say they'll count the results of a vote by members on that offer, and that intent to strike, Thursday afternoon at 5 PM. An announcement of the results should happen around 5:30 PM. Union members voted Wednesday night at Quincy Junior High, and QPS Superintendent Roy Webb told our news-gathering partners at KHQA-TV that the vote was crucial to the District's future, saying, "We're concerned, we'll be listening to what takes place, we'll be listening to the communication that comes out of that as we move forward either way."

If QF members approve an intent to strike, any walk-out would happen 28 days later. The Union authorized a similar vote in February, and a strike was narrowly averted.
