Victim identified as Dennis Green, 53; Autopsy being done in Bloomington

Quincy police say they're investigating the city's first homicide of the year, after a shooting early Sunday morning.

Police identify the victim as 53-year old Dennis Green, and say the shooting happened around 3:45 AM at a home in the 800 block of South 13th Street. Police say they responded to report that shots were fired, and found Green on the front porch suffering from at least one gun wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police say that other people were in the home at the time of the shooting, but were not hurt. They also say that multiple shell casings were found at the scene. An autopsy on Green is being done today in Bloomington, IL. In a statement, police say they have no reason to believe there is any further danger to the public as this incident doesn't appear to be a random act.

QPD says their investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information about the fatal shooting, or anything leading up to the incident to call them or the Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at (217) 228-4474. You can also submit a tip at www.quincycrimestoppers.com
