14-year old boy said his head was grazed by a bullet Thursday

Quincy police are investigating an incident of the city's southwest side, where a 14-year old boy claimed his head was grazed by a bullet.

Police say they were called Thursday afternoon around 4:15 PM to the 900 block of Payson Avenue. When they arrived, they found the boy, who police said was conscious, alert, and breathing. The boy, who told police he had been shot in the head, was taken to Blessing Hospital where he was treated and released. In their statement, the QPD said they believe "this was not a random act of violence and citizens need not be fearful due to this incident." Detectives were on the scene for several hours Thursday, collecting evidence.

Police say their investigation is on- going.
