QPS gets counter-proposal from QF

QPS gets counter-proposal from QF

Next mediated bargaining session likely later this month

A counter-proposal has been offered in the federally-mediated contract talks between the Quincy Public Schools and the Quincy Federation.

School officials and QF members spent more than three hours behind closed doors Tuesday night, discussing the union's counter-proposal. Quincy Federation President Jen Drew tells our news-gathering partners at KHQA that increased insurance fees are what's keeping both sides from reaching an agreement. In fact, Drew says that QPS negotiators heard testimonials from each sub-group about how insurance fees are affecting their members. According to Drew, district representatives were not able to agree or have anything new to offer. A third meeting had been planned for next Tuesday, but that's been canceled by the District. QPS Superintendent Roy Webb says that the mediator will email future dates for the next meeting later this week.

That meeting may take place later this month, after the Quincy School Board meets and will likely discuss the proposal.
