Classes will be in session Tuesday
Class will be in session in Quincy.
The Quincy Public Schools and the Quincy Federation teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, averting a strike set to start Tuesday.
After a four-hour negotiating session Saturday afternoon, both union head Jen Drew and the Board announced they havea a basic agreement on a new contract. According to our news-gathering partners at KHQA, the union has delayed the walkout, and will instead meet Tuesday afternoon to present the agreed-on language, and the financial details of the new agreement. That will take place at the Machinists Hall at 4 PM and 6 PM. Reportedly, the sides still need to meet to finish up the agreement, but they are in agreement on the main issue - money. No terms of the agreement have been released, but QF union rep Jen Drew says she's "optimistic" that the agreement will be accepted by the membership. Quincy School Board President Sayeed Ali thanked teachers for their patience during the negotiations.
