The Quincy City Council Monday night approved paying nearly $24,000 in overtime for fire protection at Quincy Regional Airport. It also approved a resolution to include 5th Ward Alderman Jennifer Lepper in future discussions over trying to reduce that cost. Lepper had originally wanted to add an amendment to the ordinance that would start a discussion with Fire Chief Joe Henning and the head of Firefighters Local 63 over the issue, but the city's Legal Counsel said that those talks could have led to possibly re-opening a three-year contract approved last fall. Mayor Kyle Moore said afterwards, that's not something he was in favor of.

Moore did say he welcomes any and all input and participation from the Council, which also approved resolutions to maintain the City's current Home Rule Purchase Tax and Hotel Tax rates.
