National furniture retailer interested in buying former JC Penney building
The City of Quincy has given the owner of the Quincy Mall help to lure a national retailer. Scott Hardy has more.
The City Council Monday night passed a resolution that will make a slight change in the terms of the sales tax rebate agreement with Cullinan Properties, if it sells the former JC Penney building. A national furniture retailer is looking at possibly buying the building, use half the space for themselves and then sub-leasing other parts of the building. Aldermen sent a petition to the Planning Commission that would allow the sale to happen. After the meeting, Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore said that having a 3rd anchor store helps all the Mall's stores.

Moore also mentioned a way that local residents can help the Mall, and other local merchants - shopping local, instead of online.

The Planning Commission will take up the petition when they meet later this month.
