In addition to new exterior doors, Quincy Junior High will also get a new roof this summer. The School Board accepted the low bid of $1,175,000 from Lakeside Roofing of Collinsville, IL. The new roof will cover everything but the gym and auditorium. Those roofs were recently replaced. Workers will go down to the original surface, stripping off three previously laid layers of roofing material. The new roof has a 30 year warranty.
The School Board also approved the low bid for playground equipment at the new Iles elementary on North 12th. Lavadiere Construction will be paid just over $175,000 to install a playground which includes inclusive amenities such as a wheelchair swing.
