Christopher Huckstep to be sentenced December 17 in shooting death of Emond Morris

A Quincy man, who's admitted he fatally shot another man in December on the city's northwest side, will be sentenced next month after a hearing Monday.

Christopher Huckstep was in Adams County Circuit Court for a status hearing. Records show that a December 17th sentencing date was set for Huckstep. He's pleaded Guilty to one count of 1st Degree Murder. As part of a settlement with prosecutors, two other 1st Degree Murder counts were dropped. Huckstep was indicted in early December in the shooting death of 26-year old Emond Morris of Quincy. Prosecutors say that Morris died of a single gun-shot wound around 3:30 AM December 4th at a home in the 700 block of Cedar. A report says that Quincy police found Huckstep a short time after the shooting in the 1200 block of North 12th Street. They also found a firearm during the arrest.

Huckstep's in the Adams County Jail.
