Lawyers for Travis Wiley asked for funds in Wed. hearing
A Quincy man, charged with 1st Degree Murder in the January death of a baby, wants his defense to conduct a pre-trail investigation and for Adams County to pay for it.
Travis Wiley was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday for a status hearing. Court records show his defense introduced a motion earlier in the day, asking for money to conduct a pre-trial pathology investigation. A hearing on the motion is set for Tuesday. Wiley's pleaded Not Guilty to three counts of 1st Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Battery to a Child. He was indicted on the charges in mid-July by an Adams County Grand Jury. Wiley's accused of shaking the unidentified baby in January, causing its' death two days later at a St. Louis hospital. Adams County State’s Attorney Gary Farha announced Wiley's arrest in late June, saying it concluded a six-month investigation that started shortly after the baby’s death.
Wiley's in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond.
