Gabriel Alvord sentenced in Adams County Circuit Court on one count of attempted murder

A Quincy man, who pleaded Guilty to a count of attempted murder after an early March shooting northwest of Liberty, is going to prison.

Gabriel Alvord was in Adams County Circuit Court Monday, where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He earlier pleaded Guilty to one count of attempted murder, as part of a settlement with prosecutors. In return, a second count of aggravated discharge of a firearm was dropped. A co-defendant, Kayla Obert faces those same charges, and will be back in court Tuesday. Alvord admitted his part in a March 4th incident, saying he shot at a man, while the man was standing near his car in the area of East 2100th and North 1050th. No one was hurt in the shooting, and police arrested the pair about 30 minutes later on Interstate 172. During the arrest, two firearms were allegedly found in the vehicle. Shell casings were also found near the home.

Obert's free on $350,000 bond.
