Louis Jenkins sentenced Monday

A Quincy man, who pleaded Guilty to a reduced charge as part of a March 2018 shooting at a Quincy apartment complex, has been sent to prison.

Louis Jenkins was sentenced Monday to six years in prison at a hearing in Adams County Circuit Court. Jenkins pleaded Guilty in late August to one count of Attempted Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, as part of a settlement with prosecutors. In return, more serious charges were dropped. He and a Chicago man, Christopher Beaver, were both charged in that shooting in March 2018. Beaver's serving a 10-year prison sentence after pleading Guilty in late February to one count of Attempted Aggravated Battery. Beaver admitted to taking part in the early-morning shooting at an apartment in the Country Club Heights complex near 31st and State.

One man was shot several times, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
