Christopher Huckstep to be sentenced August 7

A Quincy man has admitted fatally shooting another man in December on the city's northwest side.

Christopher Huckstep was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, where he pleaded Guilty to one count of 1st Degree Murder. As part of a likely settlement with prosecutors, two other 1st Degree Murder counts were dropped. Huckstep was indicted in early December in the shooting death of 26-year old Emond Morris of Quincy. Prosecutors say that Morris died of a single gun-shot wound around 3:30 AM December 4th at a home in the 700 block of Cedar. Morris's body was found by officers shortly after they arrived. A report says that they found Huckstep a short time after the shooting in the 1200 block of North 12th Street. They also found a firearm during the arrest.

Huckstep's in the Adams County Jail, and will be sentenced August 7th.
