Jonathan Davis to go on trial December 9

A Quincy man, charged with allegedly trying to burglarize a home on Quincy's southeast side, and then attacking a police officer, has pleaded Not Guilty and will go on trial this winter.

Jonathan Davis entered that Not Guilty plea Tuesday at his arraignment in Adams County Circuit Court. Records show Davis will go on trial December 9th. He was indicted last Thursday by an Adams County Grand Jury on a Class X count of Home Invasion and one count of Aggravated Battery to a police officer. Prosecutors say the incident happened the night of September 17th around 11:45 PM in the 17 hundred block of South 47th Street. A report says that police were called about a possible burglary in progress there, and that when they arrived, Davis allegedly attacked an officer as they were getting out of their squad car. Davis also allegedly entered the home and beat the home owner during the alleged burglary. Neither required what police described as immediate medical care.

Davis is in the Adams County Jail on $250,000 bond, and will be back in court November 12th.
