Carlos Williams is accused of strangling Orlando Smith in May 2019

A Quincy man, indicted in connection with the May 2019 death of a Quincy man whose body was found by the side of a road, will now go on trial in June.

Carlos Williams was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, where records show that a June 8th trial date was set. That's after an early-March trial date was stricken on a defense request. Williams has pleaded Not Guilty to three counts of 1st Degree Murder in the death of Orlando Smith. Charging documents say that Williams strangled Smith sometime between May 27th and May 30th. Smith's body was found on the 30th on the side of the road in the 200 block of Koch’s Lane in Quincy. Authorities haven't said what a possible motive for the killing was, but do say that law enforcement were able to make an arrest after numerous interviews, as well as physical evidence found by the Illinois State Police's Crime Lab.

Williams is in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond, and will be back in court May 13th.
