Rise Quincy granted license Wednesday by IDFPR
The City of Quincy now has a second location to buy adult-use cannabis.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced Wednesday that Rise Quincy at 27th and Broadway has been granted a “Same Site” adult use cannabis license. That will allow them, as an existing medical cannabis dispensary, to obtain an adult-use dispensing license. IDFPR says that the license will allow Rise Quincy to begin adult use cannabis sales immediately, provided they comply with local zoning rules or other local laws. The store's the second in Quincy to sell adult-use cannabis. Herbal Remedies was granted a license as part of the state's efforts to get stores up and running in late 2019. Rise Quincy's licensing comes two weeks after the start of over the counter sales of cannabis products in the state. The approval of Rise Quincy and a store in the Metro-East area of St. Louis raise the total number of approved adult use cannabis dispensary licenses to 48.
The Department anticipates getting more applications for early approval adult use licenses as municipalities adopt zoning ordinances for adult use cannabis.
