The Council voted 9 to 1 to enact the $33.4 million budget for the next fiscal year, which starts May 1st. Mayor Kyle Moore calls it a consensus document.

The budget spends $700,000 more than it's expected to take in, due to payments to the Police and Firefighter pension funds. It also includes $5 million in capital improvements, and plans to borrow over $11 million for improvements to the city's water and wastewater treatment plants. The Council also voted to spend $220,000 to buy a new street sweeper.

The meeting was the last regular session for outgoing aldermen Jared Holbrook and Dan Brink. Both decided to step down before the municipal election, held earlier this month.
