Bruce Dyer II is alleged to have started a fire above the Scoreboard Monday night

A Quincy man, who was renting an apartment above the Scoreboard Bar and Grill, is now in jail after allegedly trying to burn down the building Monday night.

Firefighters and police were called to the business in the 200 block of South 8th around 8:40 p.m. A QPD report says that 48-year old Bruce Dyer II was arrested on counts of aggravated arson and meth possession. People were in the bar at the time of the fire, but no one was hurt, and the bar was undamaged. Police say that the fire was confined to the upstairs apartment.

Dyer's in the Adams County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
