Roger Parker, Jr. to change his Not Guilty plea next week

A Quincy teen, accused in a fatal 2019 shooting of a Quincy man, will change his Not Guilty plea next week, as part of a settlement with prosecutors.

Roger Parker Jr. was in Adams County Circuit Court Thursday, where he waived his right to a jury. He was set to go on trial starting Monday. The 17-year old had pleaded Not Guilty and has been charged as an adult with three counts of 1st Degree Murder in the death of 18-year old Darrell Kelley, Jr. of Quincy. Parker Jr.'s due to enter a Guilty plea to a lesser count on Wednesday. In return, prosecutors will drop the 1st Degree Murder counts. Police say they were called just before 5 PM September 26th, 2019 to the 600 block of Sycamore on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found Kelley lying in the street, with multiple gun-shot wounds. Kelley died later that night at Blessing Hospital.

Parker Jr. is in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center on $5 million bond.
